Jeffrey A. Dougherty Associate
Mr. Dougherty is an associate in the Firm’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group.
Mr. Dougherty focuses his practice on commercial litigation and alternative dispute resolution. His experience includes representing clients in banking, fraud, securities, breach of contract, foreclosure, employment and civil rights matters. Mr. Dougherty has litigated in both state and federal courts in New York and represented clients in mediations and arbitrations. Additionally, Mr. Dougherty has significant experience with electronic discovery.
Mr. Dougherty began his career in the private sector working for boutique law firms focusing on securities fraud arbitration and employment litigation. Immediately prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Dougherty served as an Assistant Corporation Counsel for the New York City Law Department, Office of the Corporation Counsel. He defended the City of New York and the New York City Police Department in the 2004 Republican National Convention litigation where he was a primary brief writer for a successful summary judgment motion defending the City’s policies against a First Amendment Challenge under the strict scrutiny standard. See Dinler v. City of New York, 04-cv-7921, 2012 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 141851, **67-90 (S.D.N.Y. Sept. 30, 2012). Mr. Dougherty has also tried cases to verdict before juries in federal court with outstanding results and worked on several successful appeals before the Second Circuit.Admissions
